Filling out the Authorization to Pay Research Assistant Form:

  • Total Amount to be Paid to Research Assistant (Gross Pay) = number of weeks between Contract Start Date and Contract End Date x Average number of hours per week x Rate per Hour. Minimum wage rates are as follows:

Effective October 1, 2023: $15.00 + 4% vacation = $15.60

Effective April 1, 2024: $15.20 + 4% vacation = $15.81

  • If the Payment Method is hourly, the average hours per week and rate still need to be identified to ensure there are sufficient funds in the account.

  • Signatures: All authorizations to pay research assistant forms must be signed by:
    • Research Grant Holder
    • Research Assistant
    • Manager, Research Accounting (Financial Services)
      • If the account number starts with:
      • 49-0-, the pay authorization needs to be signed by the grant holder and their Department Head
      • 48-0-, the pay authorization needs to be signed by the grant holder and their Dean
