April 1, 2025 Benefits Enhancements

 

On behalf of the Group Benefits Committee, we are writing to share that, effective April 1st, 2025, health plan rates will change. As previously communicated, much of the rate increase (22%) covers the health plan enhancements being introduced, which are the results of the benefits review completed earlier this year. These enhancements aim to improve the overall coverage and benefits for all employees. Please note the updates and enhancements listed in the SUMMARY of PLAN CHANGES NOTICE

We also evaluate the health plan rates annually. This year a rate increase of 13% is required in addition to the 22% increase related to the plan enhancements. This ensures that our health plan remains sustainable while continuing to meet the needs of our employees. The total health plan rate increase for this year is 35%.

Over the years, the Group Benefits Committee has worked diligently to manage rate increases. By utilizing available reserve surpluses, we have been able to soften the impact of these increases. In fact, the required rate increase for this year was originally 51.5%, but by using reserves, we were able to reduce this to 35%. We keep the costs to plan members at the forefront of our decisions and remain committed to offering a robust health plan that supports your well-being.
