Minimum Wage Increase as of April 1, 2022

Please be advised that effective April 1, 2022 minimum wage for Nova Scotia will be increasing from $12.95 to $13.35 per hour + 4% vacation pay.

Any rates of pay which are less than the new rate will automatically be adjusted for April 1, 2022.

Please ensure that all new employees receive at least minimum wage and that the appropriate rate is outlined on any time sheets submitted to Payroll.

Department Supervisors are encouraged to also evaluate the wage rates of current employees that are paid more than minimum wage to determine whether an adjustment is appropriate. A Casual/Hourly Payroll Authorization Form will need to be filled out and submitted to payroll@acadiau.ca for any wage changes to employees that are currently paid more than minimum wage.

It should also be noted that an additional increase to the minimum wage rate will occur effective October 1,2022 at which time the rate will increase from $13.35 to $13.60 + 4% vacation pay.
