Faculty are paid on a monthly basis via direct deposit to your bank account on the last working day of the month

Employment Contract & Payroll Forms

If you are a new faculty member, once you have accepted your faculty appointment and confirmation has been received from the President's Office, HR will send you a welcome letter detailing your orientation.  This includes directions for filling out the required forms.


All employees are required to have a valid Social Insurance Number.  Information and application for a Social Insurance Number are available on the Service Canada web site.  Please ensure you review the required personal identification documents needed to obtain a Social Insurance Number prior to submitting your application.


Changes to Payroll Information?

If you need to change your tax status, direct deposit account information, etc., you must notify the payroll office in writing prior to the 15th of the month.  Forms can either be sent via inter-campus mail or faxed to the payroll office at (902)585-1075.  


Employment Benefits

If your contract entitles you to employment benefits, our Group Benefits and Pension Professional will arrange to meet with new employees to review the benefit plan, and to ensure the proper documentation for benefits is complete.  Any changes to your benefits, i.e., adding or removing dependents can be arranged through the Human Resources Department.

Termination of Employment Contract

A Record of Employment for Employment Insurance through Service Canada is available upon request.  Employees requesting a Record of Employment should notify the Payroll Office by the 15th of the month in which your contract is ending.  This will ensure your Record of Employment is completed on time.
